私は福島には日本の原風景が残っていると感じていた。
しかし原発事故後、それらの風景は
除染によって生じた放射性廃棄物の
仮置き場へと変わっていった。

当初、その異様さは強い違和感を伴っていたが、
時間の経過とともに、
私はそれらを特別なものとして
意識しなくなっていった。
その自分自身の感覚の変化に
違和感を覚え、
この風景と改めて向き合うことにした。

本作では赤外線写真を用い、
緑色のシートで覆われた放射性廃棄物を
風景から分離することを試みている。
赤外線も放射性物質も、
人間の目には直接映らない。
放射性物質そのものが
写真に写っているわけではないが、
目に見えないもの同士を
重ね合わせることで、
震災前と後の世界を
視覚的に分けて捉えようとしている。

I once felt that Fukushima still retained the original landscapes of rural Japan.
After the nuclear accident, however, these landscapes were transformed into
temporary storage sites for radioactive waste produced by decontamination work.

At first, the strangeness of these scenes came with a strong sense of discomfort.
Over time, however, I stopped perceiving them as something exceptional.
Becoming uneasy about this change in my own perception,
I decided to face these landscapes once again.

In this work, I use infrared photography to attempt to separate
radioactive waste—covered with green sheets—from the surrounding landscape.
Neither infrared light nor radioactive material is directly visible to the human eye.
Although radioactive material itself does not appear in the photographs,
by linking what cannot be seen,
I try to visually distinguish the world before and after the disaster.
